Schwarzsee-Summer Activities

Sunday, 6th August 2017 at 12:30pm - 5:30pm

Location: Meet at the restaurant Gypsera at NEW 13:00pm

This event is in the past.

Contact: Christine Betremieux

Schwarzsee is one hour by car from Berne via Düdingen, or reachable by train and bus via Fribourg. In Schwarzsee we meet beween 12:00 and 13:00 for a snack at the Restaurant Gypsera, next to the parking area by the lake.

Schwarzsse is great for sport. An easy walk winds around the lake, and we will plan hiking and fun activies on the Riggisalp or Kaiseregg.

We were 9 people to attend (including four directly from advertising on Whatsup). The ICB members were Jillian, Katja, Theresa and her friend Ernst (non member), and me. After discussion within the group, we agreed to walk up to Riggisalp instead of taking the chairlifts as planned/advertised. We asked a local at the shop who recommended the scenic walk towards the Jaun Pass instead of the direct route steeper from the Schwarzsee Church to Riggisalp. What was not made quite clear is that the track was going to take double the time (over two hours for average walked). We started off on the Jaun Pass track under an overcast sky, soon to become a very drizzly day. The views were however magnificent and two third of the way we reach an intersection. Instead of continuing along the Euschelspass, we turned left to go towards Riggisalp (1,432m). the path was uphill initially but almost flat after the half way mark. I still will rate it as an easy walk but rather long. We were rewarded in the end with a beautiful blue sky and warm sunshine to dry us off. Only two took the 16:04 bus to Fribourg while we continued basking in the sun. The descent in the chairlift was also stunning although Anna did expressed the desire to go down in a monster scooter. Overall a great day in the mountain.

We had a gentle rain in Germany (near Schaffhausen) but it has now cleared up and the weather is really comfortable for a change.

From Meetup, 4 people have registered:

Jill, it is noted. And the weather forecast is only for rain between 6:00 and 9:00am and clear weather after that time. Maximum 17 degrees during at day at Schwarzsee so take some long sleeves

Please note that the event will be maintained regardless of the number of attendees. For those hesitating to answer because of uncertain weather at this stage, contact me on my telephone number indicated on the newsletter so that we know you are coming. Cheers! Christine

A decision on go or no go can be made on Saturday or at the latest on Sunday morning by 10 am. The forecast at the moment is for storms and temperaturs from 16° to 21°, which does not sound too good.

For those who want a bit more than easy walking: we take the chair lift to Riggisalp, walk around there (1 hour), or walk back to Gypsera (2 hours)

There is also an interesting "Witch's Path"

The return trip is by bus 123 leaving Gypsera at 16:04 arriving in Fribourg at 16:57. The train S1 leaves Fribourg at 17:11 and arrives in Berne at 17:44, the RE leaves Fribourg at 17:29 and arrives at 17:51.

IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME MEMBERS WILL GO BY CAR! PLEASE RSVP AND CONTACT THE LEADER CHRISTINE. It is then feasible to leave at 11:30 and be back by 17:15. Time for badminton ...

The train S1 leaves at 11:15 for Fribourg, arriving at 11:47. Thence the bus 123 leaves at 12:03 and arrives at Schwarzsee at 12:53 at Gypsera. We meet on the terrasse of the restaurant Gypsera, we can buy snacks and drinks or have a picnic.

We then decide who would want to walk around the lake (1.5 hours)
finishing at the Hostellerie for afternoon tea. It is possible to swim in the lake, because ice-skating is not possible.

Plans are still unclear. Do we make an easy walk around the lake, or do we take a lift up the mountain and make a hike?

Who's coming? See all
