The evening is called “Hard Hitting Songs for Hard-hit People” and consists of two sets.
Switzerland’s leading Blues singer Yvonne Moore and her partner Mat Callahan, musical wizard and all round good guy, are presenting songs from the seminal collection of the same name featuring songs written or collected by the likes of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Alan Lomax, which depict the plight of the common people in the US in the first half of the 20th century and continue to be relevant today.
Stephen Ferron, Mo Brändli, Peter Wettach and I will be doing the companion set with songs of social comment from the British Isles. Many of our songs have been unearthed in collections and prepared/arranged specially for this gig. And these songs too are as topical now as when they were first sung.
Admission to the concert is free; there will be a collection. The doors open at 19:00. Be there in good time as space is not unlimited.
Best wishes for the new year and here’s hoping you will be able to be there.
Oh, and please share this info.
